My STORY

The Family Business

I often joke that I am a true mix of my parents. My father was a CPA for 30+ years, this is where my talent for math comes from. My mother taught elementary school for almost 20 years. I grew up with her example, and the example of aunts who are teachers, who have supported my career and helped me grow to become the teacher I am today.

"Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think." -Albert Einstein

I believe that anyone can learn math. There is no "math gene" or "math people." It may take people different amounts of time, or they may learn it in different ways, but everyone can be successful in mathematics. My teaching philosophy centers around this idea. I strive to teach in a way that allows for multiple learning styles and uses multiple methods of assessing students.
